Steam Turbine Generators

Today in thermodynamics class I was mindful of some fluid mechanic laws. We were talking about a steam generator and I was mindful of how turbines convert the energy stored in a fluid to electrical power. A fluid (usually steam) enters the turbine at a low velocity and high pressure. When the steam leaves the turbine it has condensed and exits at a low velocity and low pressure. In this case the work that the turbine produces is generated from the pressure gradient between the entrance and exit valves.
