Gold Rush Alaska III

Tonight was the season premier of the TV series Gold Rush Alaska. I was watching the episode when I became aware of a conceptual mistake in the program. The crew was working on a pump that was removing water from the gold mine when one of the crew members said that the pump was cavitating inside the intake line due to the hole in the intake line leaking air into the pump. This is a mistake, cavitation is not caused by air leaking into the intake line. Cavitation is caused by pressure differences in an intake line, what this crew member was actually talking about was the pump losing its prime.
