Intravenous (IV) Therapy
Today I saw my grandad at the hospital. He recently had surgery and required intravenous (IV) antimicrobial medications. When I saw the IV bag hanging on a pole I became mindful that the IV bag had to be on a pole to create enough pressure in the line to push the drugs into his bloodstream. Otherwise, if the pressure in his bloodstream was higher it would cause blood to enter the IV line.
